Waking Up for Spring

11/4/2017

It has been a long, cold and harsh winter but now the blossom is emerging and the insects and flowers are starting to return. It always takes a little while to get back up and running after winter so I headed out to wake myself up with my new EM1ii and 60mm Macro lens to see what was buzzing.
Without any planning or thought, I headed to Radford Recreation Ground to have a little look around. The shots I got aren't my best, but they were a good warm up for the rest of the year and I think that this year will be a good year for my macro photography.
A quick word on the EM1ii to finish this short post. It's absolutely fantastic for macro. Using the technique of setting focus manually and rocking back and forth whilst using a burst is almost too easy with up to 60fps (although you do end up with tonnes of images!) and it is actually possible to use the continuous autofocus for macro at 18fps with the electronic shutter. I think that with more time and experience I will be able to find out more, but from this short test I think that the ergonomics and speed of the EM1ii are absolutely fantastic.
